Mange foot pain with Podiatry

Comprehensive Foot & Lower Limb Treatment

Our podiatrists are specially trained to diagnose, treat, and manage disorders of the foot or lower limb. Regardless of your condition or disorder, we will complete a comprehensive evaluation of your foot function and symptoms to identify the root cause and alleviate your pain, and restore your lower limb mobility. Our goal is to improve your function and get you back to performing the activities you love.

Areas that our Podiatrist can help you with include:

  • Advise and Education: Our Podiatrist is trained and skilled at performing routine nail and skin treatments, which takes away the stress, and reduces the harm done to the nails, skin, or surrounding structures from poor or improper technique. We are also proficient in performing minor nail procedures to rectify any nail deformities that result in stubborn ingrown nails or cause you distress.
  • Foot and Ankle Pain: Our feet and ankles are complex structures that have specific functions for our day to day activity. Conditions that cause pain to our toes, feet and ankles require more attention because we depend on our lower limbs to perform our daily activities and maintain independence. To treat these conditions, we will perform an in-depth assessment of your foot function and biomechanics to determine their root cause. Our Podiatrist is also able to help by prescribing strengthening and stretching exercises as well as orthotic therapy using prescription custom insoles that is tailored to your activities and requirements
  • Lower Limb Conditions: Our feet and ankles are connected to our entire lower limb. Occasionally, pain and discomfort to our feet and ankles may originate further up the lower limb. Podiatrists are lower limb specialists, trained specifically to be able to discern if your foot pain is related to any structural or functional lower limb involvement. Using this information, our Podiatrist can then provide a specific treatment plan for you.
  • Diabetic Foot Management: Podiatrists play an important role for managing anyone who has Diabetes. Foot complications are extremely common in individuals with Diabetes. Preventative foot care through regular neurovascular testing and assessment of high pressure points is very important to avoid complications. We will be able to spot any subtle signs of trouble, and significantly reduce the risk of dangerous complications. We are also able to provide expert advice, teach you how to take care of your feet at home, so that your feet remain healthy.
  • Manual Therapy: Soft tissue massage and trigger point release therapy are hands-on techniques that help to break adhesions, improve circulation, and optimise muscle function.
  • Footwear Assessment and Evaluations: Regardless of your foot condition, our Podiatrist is able to perform a comprehensive evaluation of footwear and provide recommendations specific to your condition and optimised for your favourite activities.

Common Foot & Lower Limb Conditions We Treat

Podiatry FAQ

What is Poditary?

Podiatry is a specialised field in healthcare that focuses on the foot, ankle and associated structures of the lower limbs

A Podiatrist is specifically trained to prevent, diagnose, manage and rehabilitate abnormalities of the lower extremities. Our aim is to quickly restore optimal foot health and proper leg function with the goal of preventing painful complications and the possible loss of mobility.

Podiatrists in Singapore mainly focus on non-invasive methods to address foot problems that can be managed with conservative options, and we work closely with medical doctors and surgeons for more severe patient cases for pre- and post-surgery rehabilitative care so as to ensure the best clinical outcome for you.

Will Podiatry hurt?

We strive towards providing a pain-free experience for you. Generally, all treatments are painless. However, depending on the kind of treatment done, you may experience some transient mild discomfort, which is short-lasting and tolerable.

Our Podiatrist will ensure that you remain as comfortable as possible during the duration of your treatment. It is vital that you provide your Podiatrist with constant feedback so that we can deliver the most pleasant experience possible for you.

Do I need a doctor’s referral to see the Podiatrist?
Not at all. Simply call our clinic at 69807720, or email us at contact@therehabcentre.com.sg to make an appointment. We will confirm your appointment before you head down to our clinic.

However, if you have a referral from a Doctor or any health professional, please let us know when you make your appointment, and bring the letter along when you come for your appointment.

What do I need to bring to a Podiatry session?

You may help us by bringing a list of your medications and medical/surgical history (so we can provide an accurate diagnosis and plan) and your most commonly worn footwear – especially your sport shoes – so that our Podiatrist can assess them and recommend appropriate footwear if needed,

Please also bring along any referral letters, lab reports, or any diagnostic imaging reports from doctors or hospitals related to your lower limb concerns.

If your lower limb concern arises when you walk or do exercise, please wear, or bring along, a pair of shorts or ¾ bermudas to help ease our assessment.

How long do most appointments last?
A consultation with our Podiatrist may last from 30 mins up to 1 hour, depending on the amount of treatment that needs to be done, as well as your progress.
What can I expect at a Podiatry appointment?
Your Podiatrist will first have an initial consultation with you to find out your condition and provide you with a diagnosis. Following this, your Podiatrist will then recommend suitable treatment options and work with you towards a tailored treatment plan for your recovery.

Before commencing treatment, your podiatrist will advise you on the costs associated as well as the involved timelines, and getting your consent before proceeding with the treatment.

When should I see a Podiatrist vs a Physiotherapist?

At The Rehab Centre, we want you to live without pain, and enjoy all the activities that you love. Feet and lower limb injuries often times limit what you can do. Having a Podiatrist, who is a specialist in treatment of this part of your body, helps you enjoy a better quality of life.

By having both Podiatry and Physiotherapy, we can offer you appropriate effective treatment regardless of the cause. For example, a Physiotherapist might treat someone with a lower limb injury. However if the injury is recurrent, the Physiotherapist might consult with a Podiatrist to look at the foot function, prescribe corrective foot orthotics, or identify other factors contributing to the frequency of the injury.

On the other hand, the Podiatrist is able to to discuss with your Physiotherapist for their advice if they believe the cause of ongoing lower limb problems is due to something higher up in the body.

This collaborative approach ensures that you’re in the right hands regardless of the cause.

What Our Podiatry Patients Are Saying

My wife first consultation with Podiatrist Mr. Daniel Wong at The Rehab Centre was in mid-April 2022 after experiencing 2 years of bad pain on her left foot due to a flat foot and bunion. She could not walk for more than 5 minutes, she had to stopped and let the pain subside before taking the next step.

Daniel was very patient in listening and asked many questions related to the pain. He performed a series of tests and examinations before explaining clearly to her about the cause of her pain.

He explained to my wife in length with clarity about the problems and ways to take care of her feet. He is very knowledgeable and professional in this field. He not only provided her with exercise to strengthen the foot, also taught her how to source for a pair of good walking shoes with a pair of insoles that best suit her feet.

She is very grateful to Daniel. After the first visit and with all his recommendations, she could walk a few thousand steps with much less pain. In end April 2022, during her trip in Bangkok, she was able to walk 13,000 steps every day for the 6 days trip in Bangkok!! Presently, Daniel is preparing a pair of tailored made, interchangeable insole for the shoes to enhance her walking.

Thank you very much, Daniel, you changed her life, she has no fear in walking anymore. 😊

– Mr D. Lee

Was referred to Daniel from The Rehab Centre for a consultation on Podiatry services after suffering an injury to my foot just 3 weeks away from competition.

Daniel was really patient and keen to help me recover, improve and perform on the field. He would actively listen and take the initiative to think of ways to assist me to hasten the recovery process, yet ensure that my long term foot health is taken care of!

Would definitely recommend Daniel from The Rehab Centre if you are facing any foot pain/issues, or if you are generally concerned about your foot health and always wondered if you should get it looked at!

– Jamin Huang

I had the immense privilege to be taken care of by Daniel. I always had some foot pain in both my feet and I thought it was because I had tried to file my skin too vigorously and hence brought on the bleeding and the pain. It was also beginning to affect the way I ran because I
found myself avoiding the painful bits of my foot.

I sought help at The Rehab Centre and lo and behold, Daniel informed me that in my right foot, I had both corns/ calluses, which was causing me to alter the way I ran and in my left, warts, which would explain the bleeding in my heel!

He was clear and helpful in explaining the treatment that was necessary. He also took time to explain what the cause of the problem might be and how I might be able to prevent the same thing from happening in the future.

Now I know what a Podiatrist is and what they do and more importantly, Daniel managed to address my foot pain so that I am able to return to my exercises more comfortably!

Thank you Daniel and thank Rehab Centre for being so helpful and professional through my time with you!
